SEMINAR OVERIEW:
An introduction to the concepts of mass balance in ice sheet systems with emphasis on West Antarctica.  This will include why we care about mass balance and the reason and nature of the assumptions and simplifications we make to calculate this important variable.  Images and a discussion of related fieldwork in Antarctica will also be presented.
