Tropical Teleconnections and their Implications for Modern and Past Climates

By R. Saravanan
National Center for Atmospheric Research

Abstract:
This talk will address the issue of tropical atmospheric teleconnections linking the ocean basins, focusing in particular on Atlantic-Pacific interaction. The remote influence of Atlantic sea surface temperature anomalies will be analyzed using a hierarchy of model simulations. The possible role of this remote influence in modern climate and in past climates will be discussed.
