Summary of Proposed Field Work

The proposed work is to take place over the 2000/01 field season.

The table below shows the number of flights and days required for the proposed work. The estimated number of flights in the table requires a base of operation directly east or west of the main survey grid, centrally located along its length. These estimates do not include time or flights required for aircraft configuration ans testing.

Notes: 2000/01 Field Season

1. Plans for the SOAR facility during the 2000/01 have not been finalized. SOAR is evaluating the need for equipment refitting in the near future.
2. The location of Vostok Station, given the fuel capacity of the Twin Otter, does not make it an adequate base of operations for the proposed work.
3. These estimates include run-ins and run-outs of 15 km.
4. These estimates include a 10% cushion for reflights.
5. These estimates include a 33% allowance in days for weather contingencies. The sustainable rate of flying using a single flight crew is 1.5 flights per day. Two full crews are necessary for 2.5 flights per day operations.
6. The lengths of the regional lines are dependent on the location of the base of operations. It is assumed a pair of regional lines will be completed in a single flight.
