Seismic Project Information NBP9702
Pacific-Australia-Antarctic Plate Circuit

This 1997 cruise was one of several cruises (EW9513, NBP9602) proposed to study the history of separation of the Pacific and Antarctic plates, along the Pacific-Antarctic ridge and transform fault system in the SW Pacific Ocean. The purpose was to study the history of seafloor spreading in the northern Ross Sea, and, in particular, the role that the Adare Trough played in it.
