Please note:

(A)GIS was recently renamed to "iGMT, A Tool for Interactive Mapping of Geoscientific Datasets". This was done to avoid confusion with Geographical Information Systems (GIS). (A)GIS will be further developped under the new name, so please refer to the new web page for iGMT.

(A)GIS: A Geophysical Information System

This is the home page for the geophysical mapping software (A)GIS. (A)GIS is intended to faciliate generic mapping tools (GMT) script creation using a graphical user interface (GUI) that is built using the Tcl/Tk toolkit. In addition to supplying a GUI for GMT, (A)GIS comes with support for many different geophysical data sets, such as topography, gravity, seafloor age, hypocenters, plate boundaries, hotspots, CMT solutions etc. The primary hardware platform (A)GIS is targeted on is UNIX in all its flavors. For more information, please refer to the documentation listed below. (A)GIS' current and last version is (change to the renamed iGMT for further developments)

The primary authors of (A)GIS are Thorsten Becker of the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences of Harvard University and Alexander Braun of the Department of Meteorology and Geophyics at J.W.Goethe University Frankfurt/Main.
